This piece I wanted to explore the blending modes in illustrator, most specifically color burn. I really like the effect that came out and has inspired me to possible try printing my photographs on transparency paper and creating a simple composition with overlapping colors. I really enjoyed the 3 primary colors; however, next time I may try to find 3 colors that mix better when overlap like the base CMYK colors.
This piece was produced from “digitally” sketching. For me this means making random shapes and then using my intuition build a composition around it. This piece began with the “leaf” looking shape and the large black pole that goes to the top right. From there I refined my color palette to establish a consistent color scheme. Furthermore, I explored geometric shapes and creating a sense of depth with the peace to making the composition more dynamic.
The second image is the first version made in Adobe Illustrator while the main image with the shading was done in Procreate.
